2015: Jean Mann

Jean Mann, NCTM, was a charter member of the Gwinnett County Music Teachers Association, and has served as President, Federated festival chair, and Music Day chair.  She has tirelessly worked in the GMTA auditions program at the local, regional and state level.

Her students consistently receive Outstanding Performer awards, and she has had Conference Recitalists and Master Class performers as well. Jean’s students have received scholarships to prestigious colleges, universities and conservatories. Many have gone on to establish successful careers as performers and as public school orchestra, band and choral directors, church musicians, and independent piano teachers. One of the distinct trademarks of Jean is her ability to motivate her students. Her article on this topic was published by the American Music Teacher.

She has served as a panelist and presenter at the GMTA Conference and local association meetings. Jean was named the 2004 GMTA Teacher of the Year. Jean’s teaching and service to the music profession and community have touched the lives of countless students over the years in a significant and enduring way.
