The Performance Chair locates the venue and secures a date for GCMTA students to perform in a non-competitive situation. Previous events have included playing at Von Maur in the Mall of Georgia in early December and playing at an extended care center. Contact Kimber Kwiatkowski to volunteer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><\/b><strong>DATE AND TIME:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>LOCATION:\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>SIGN UP DEADLINE:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>REGISTRATION:<\/strong> Registration: <a href=\"http:\/\/gcmta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/PerformanceDayWorksheet.pdf\">Performance Day Worksheet<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>ENTRY FEE:<\/strong> \u00a0$10 per student<br \/>\n<strong>EVENT CONTACT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Performance day is an opportunity for piano students of GCMTA teachers to play \u201cbackground music\u201d in an authentic setting. (Almost like a real gig!) Each GCMTA teacher will sign up for 30 minute time slots \u2013 you may sign up for more than one \u2013 during which their students will provide music for the enjoyment of the customers. Our goal is to fill the bakery with live music.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students of GCMTA teachers only may perform.<\/li>\n<li>Each student may play up to 2 songs\/pieces.<\/li>\n<li>All students must be prepared to play as well as possible. Memorization is not required.<\/li>\n<li>Duets and trios are encouraged. Teachers may participate on these.<\/li>\n<li>Younger children are welcome to participate with close supervision.<\/li>\n<li>To avoid having one monitor who oversees the event for the entire day, each teacher will be asked to monitor the activity for one hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Registration:<\/h2>\n<p>Teachers may sign up for 30 minute slots and will submit a list of students to play for their scheduled slot, two weeks in advance of the event. The deadline is TBD.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The fee for student performers is $10 per student. Teachers do not have to pay to perform.<\/li>\n<li>If the teacher has estimated their students performances to be less than they anticipated, we ask that the teacher have something prepared to fill the gap.<\/li>\n<li>Teachers will submit one personal check to GCMTA for all their performing students when they submit their list of student names.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Day of the Event:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Teachers and students are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their performance time so that transitions will be smooth<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">No student may play who has not paid or isn\u2019t on the teacher\u2019s list.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">During their time slot, the teacher will be responsible to sit near the piano during their entire period to monitor the instrument and encourage their students. Teachers will be asked not to engage in discussions during scheduled performances.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Please bring a printed program of your students \u201cline-up\u201d so that it can be posted on the easel which will be on display next to the performance area. There will also be an area where you can display business cards during your students\u2019 performance time.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">AFTER your students have played, we ask that each teacher remain one additional hour to oversee the event.\u00a0 We would like to have 2 teachers there at all times, if possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember that at Performance Day, we are guests. Please be respectful in all ways to employees. AND REMEMBER, Performance Day is about having FUN! Keep this in mind during the entire event!
